Who this covers
This statement covers Pewbook’s own website, every parish’s public pages on pewbook.co.uk (including the pages for requesting a Mass), and the parish office app that staff and volunteers log in to.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, at level AA. We want everyone to be able to use Pewbook, whether you’re asking your parish for a Mass or running the parish office.
What you can do
You should be able to:
- use every page with a keyboard alone, and always see where you are on the page
- zoom in to 400% without the text being cut off
- use a screen reader, such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS
- turn off animations with your device’s “reduce motion” setting
How we check
Every change to Pewbook is checked automatically for accessibility problems before it goes live, on a computer screen and on a phone screen. We also check pages by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader.
We haven’t yet had an independent accessibility audit.
Known issues
- In the parish office app, a few actions ask for a reason in your browser’s own pop-up box: for example, cancelling or declining a Mass, or some newsletter wording. These boxes work with a keyboard and a screen reader, but they’re small and can’t be zoomed in the same way as the page.
- Some text on a parish’s pages is written by the parish itself, such as notices and how to pay an offering. That text is theirs, and we can’t check it.
Report a problem
If something on Pewbook is hard to use, or doesn’t work with the way you use the web, please email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what went wrong. We’ll reply within 5 working days.
If you’re a parishioner, you can also contact your parish office: they can take your request another way, for example by phone or in person.
