The Assistant makes changes to your churches and service times for you. Type what you’d like to change, the way you’d say it to someone in the office, and it shows you exactly what it will do. Nothing changes until you say so. Admins can use it if your parish has the Assistant.
Open it
Tap Assistant in the menu. On a computer it opens at the side of the page you’re on. On a phone it opens as its own page.
Ask for a change
Type in the box under What would you like to change? and tap Send. For example:
- “Father is away next week, so cancel the weekday Masses at St Mary’s.”
- “Add an extra service on Tuesday 8 December at 7pm.”
- “From 29 November the Saturday vigil moves from 6pm to 5.30pm.”
You can also tap one of the examples under the box, then change the words.
If it isn’t sure what you mean (for example, which church), it asks you a question instead of guessing. Answer it in the box and tap Send again.
Check the changes
The Assistant replies in a sentence or two and lists every change, grouped by church, with the dates written out. For example, cancelling a week of services lists each one: Cancel Tue 3 Nov, 10:00 Weekday Mass, and so on.
Each change has a tick box. Untick any you don’t want. Then tap Make (for example Make 5 changes). When it’s done you’ll see Done and a link to the calendar.
What it can and can’t do
It can:
- add a church, or change a church’s name or address;
- add a weekly service, or change a weekly service’s name or length;
- stop a weekly service after a date;
- move a weekly service to a new day or time from a date. Services before that date keep their old time;
- cancel services on one date or a range of dates;
- add an extra service on one date.
It never deletes anything, and it can’t change anything in the past. It can’t help with anything else, such as Mass intentions, emails, staff or billing. Everything it does can still be done by hand, on Churches and Service times.
Your monthly allowance
The Assistant includes up to 150 requests a month. Each message you send that gets an answer is one request. If something goes wrong on our side, it doesn’t count. The box shows how many you have left and when they start again, on the 1st of the month.
The free trial of the Assistant lasts 7 days. While it runs, the box says when it ends.
Once you’ve used this month’s requests, the Assistant rests until the 1st. You can still make every change by hand. Importing service times after your free imports also uses your Assistant requests.
What’s kept
Only send what you’d like changed. What you type is read by our AI provider. The conversation isn’t kept: it’s gone when you close the page.
